Resolution No. 004-2020, which creates the Labor continuity plan of the General Council of Judiciary, establishes the guidelines that will guide the process of returning to work in person, taking precautions to avoid the spread of COVID-19, and favoring the gradual development of administrative and jurisdictional tasks efficiently.

Establishing the protocol for the face-to-face return gradually and progressively of the jurisdictional and administrative tasks, maintaining all the measures in place.

Relevant dates and activities:

From May 20th to 31th the following steps will take place: Disinfection and sanitation of judicial headquarters, adequacy of judicial headquarters, define of face-to-face personnel, simulation of access controls, disclosure of implementation plan, distribution of protection materials and Internal organization of jurisdictional and administrative work.

  • June 1st will initiate the reopening phase.

    • General Aspects of the face-to-face service in the opened venues that will be processed virtually: Requests, hearings, and appearances.

      The hearings and appearances will proceed virtually but assisted with the aid of the tools provided and authorized by the Council of the Judiciary.

    • New tools and mechanisms will be provided for the continued of the covid-19 preventive measures.

    • The certain judicial departments, during the initial phase, will only receive urgent matters. These are: Supreme Court of Justice Building, Court of Appeals Building, National District, San Pedro de Macorís Palace of Justice, La Altagracia Palace of Justice.

  • The available services and processes at the initial phase.

    • Supreme Court of Justice:  Plenary, First, Second and Third Courtrooms. 

    • Civil jurisdiction: Civil Courtroom, Court of Appeal (Civil courtroom)

    • Administrative Court: Superior Administrative Court.

Courts and processes that are enable in the Intermediate Phase: It will depend on the sanitary and epidemiological conditions that the country is in. (Supreme Court of Justice resumes its functions through non-contact channels).

Other Courts of Judicial Order (They will resume functions virtually).

Courts and processes that are enabled in the Advance Phase: It will depend on the sanitary and epidemiological conditions that the country is in.
