Relief for tax fulfillment and deferral of the ITBIS payment.

Given the crisis that the Dominican Republic is experiencing due to the COVID-19 virus, on March 19, 2020, the Dominican Tax Authority (Dirección General de Impuestos Internos - DGII) announced the following measures to taxpayers in support of the various economic sectors:

  1. Taxpayers may request payment agreements of up to four (4) installments for the Tax on Transfers of Industrialized Goods and Services (ITBIS) corresponding to the fiscal period of February 2020, whose deadline for declaration and payment is March 20 2020. The installments of the payment agreement will not be subject to the indemnification interest applied for each month of its validity.

  2. The installments of all the payment agreements in force as of the date of this notice (March 19, 2020) are reduced to half their current value, doubling the term of the installments pending payment.

Payment facilities will be provided for those taxpayers who have arrears to date, without charging penalties.

  3. An extension is granted for the presentation and payment of the Legal Entities Income Tax (Declaración Jurada del Impuesto sobre la Renta de Personas Jurídicas - IR-20 with closing date  of December 31).

The PELLERANO NADAL team is available to clarify any questions you may have in relation to this and other measures implemented by our authorities.
